Role Description

At Humanoid Studios, we strive to create authentic human connections with virtual characters.  As we push the technology forward, these characters will become more intelligent, and emotionally authentic.  At the same time, the creativity of our developers will increasingly be boosted by AI-powered tools. 

As AI Researcher at Humanoid, you will be a driving force in these aspects of the studio, connecting new AI/ML technologies to our creation pipeline and game features.  This role involves close collaboration with other disciplines, to understand the needs and goals of the game and connect them with ML-based innovations. 

While we are still under COVID-19 restrictions this role will initially be work-from-home, but per your preference it can transition to mostly in-office either in BC or Alberta, as part of our flexible location model.

Responsibilities

  • Research and evaluate the latest AI/ML methods and products
  • Participate in design, architecture, and tools conversations to understand project goals and needs
  • Propose AI/ML based opportunities, innovations, and solutions
  • Develop prototypes to explore possibilities in creation tools and gameplay features
  • Participate in code reviews and other efforts to ensure code is written to a high professional standard
  • Collaborate with other development disciplines to integrate features into the game and tools
  • Write clean, robust, efficient, and reliable code
  • Code optimization and bug fixing

Qualifications:

  • A Masters or PhD degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering with a specialization in AI/ML
  • Deep awareness of the state of the art in ML technology and its applications in industry
  • Excellent C++ skills, with an aptitude for architecting working ML prototypes and applications
  • Strong creative problem-solving, math, and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
